Accelerating cancer research through the sharing of anonymized data

Challenge

  • Anonymize the dataset (KORL) including clinical data and histological images from biopsies from rigorously selected patients
  • Advance the researching to fight cancer by organizing “data challenges”
  • Facilitate the familiarization of staff withreal life data analysis using avatar data
  • Associate avatar data with an image

Solution

Octopize's personal data anonymization solution made it possible to free up the sharing of APHP data for secondary uses: their exploitation for the purposes of researching. To allow the exploitation of this sensitive data, Octopize sent a new set of synthetic and anonymous data. The use of this new anonymous data set made it possible to protect the privacy of the patients who are the source of the data. In addition, the informative quality of the initial data was maintained in order to allow performances similar to the initial data.

Setting up

Benefit of service anonymization: Octopize went to the APHP premises to perform the anonymization of personal data directly on its servers.

Duration: 2 days.

Process of association between avatar data and an image

Maintaining statistical quality & utility

  • The anonymized data could be used in combination with images (anatomical pathology sections).
  • The structural properties of the original game have been retained.
  • The data was made available to young practitioners to familiarize them with the use of real life data.

ROI

  • Accelerating cancer research
  • Sharing data in Open Data to innovate
  • Guarantee of privacy of patients and generation of trust In the data
“Convinced by avatars, after experiments within the framework of Epidemium and Echopen, I proposed to Octopize to present avatar technology to the monthly AI and Health working group of the Academy of Medicine.” - Olivier de Fresnoye, CEO and Co-founder @echOpen
