Octopize, selected by the Minister in charge of Transport!

“I am very proud of these winners who promote French innovation in the transport sector; the Ministry in charge of Transport will support them over the coming months to enable them to scale up, in the territories, at the service of all users.”

Octopize rewarded in the “Data Sharing” theme

Last week, the Octopize team was awarded in Paris as the winner of the 3rd edition of the prestigious Propulse program, supported by the Transport Innovation Agency (AIT). Octopize is identified by the AIT as an innovation “to be propelled” to meet current transport challenges.

The mission of this program is to promote innovation and to support companies that develop innovative solutions in the field of mobility. Whether it's technological innovations, new uses, innovative processes, or social solutions, Propulse supports initiatives that rethink mobility in all its forms.

Octopize was able to convince the jury, thus demonstrating its commitment to the ethical use of mobility data.

“This award is a real satisfaction for us, as it rewards two years of research and development devoted to the anonymization of geolocation traces. Our objective is to facilitate exchanges between data producers and local authorities. We are convinced that analyzing this data on a large scale can contribute to a better understanding of population movements. It is one of the keys to optimizing mobility solutions and reducing our environmental impact. ”, declared Olivier Breillacq, Manager at Octopize.

Octopize expresses its gratitude to the minister Patrice Vergriete, the deputy Jean-Marc Zulesi and the entire jury for this significant recognition.

She also wishes to thank the team from the Transport Innovation Agency who will support her during the nine months of the Propulse program.

Avatar: a unique software for anonymizing data

Octopize has developed an explainable method that makes it possible to transform personal data into anonymous summary data (avatars). This technology, patented and whose compliance has been evaluated by the CNIL, makes it possible to exploit data for secondary uses, while guaranteeing the privacy of the persons behind the data. Marketed in the form of software, it allows an ethical and legal approach to data. Among the possible uses: training of AI models, data valorization, data sharing (open data), storage without time limits, customer profiling, etc.

About Octopize

Proven privacy, unlocked data.

Octopize is a deeptech from Nantes that aims to become the European leader in anonymization thanks to its patented method: avatar. This method, marketed since 2019, was successfully evaluated by the CNIL in 2020.

The startup raised 1.5 million euros in September 2021 and was distinguished by Sylvie Retailleau, Minister of Education and Research, during the i-Nov 2022 competition. In March 2023, she published a study in the journal Nature Digital Medicine, demonstrating the interest and relevance of using anonymous synthetic data for medical research.

Although historically recognized in the field of health, Octopize has recently expanded its activity to the mobility and telecommunications sector. It is now extending its field of action to new sectors such as banking and insurance, in order to continue its growth.
